  • Older travelers

Very nice hotel close to the habour! Good value for money.

  • Couple

We stayed in a king room with fireplace and vaulted ceilings. Gorgeous!! Desk clerk was very friendly and helpful.

The walls are a bit thin, because the family next to us had a very noisy toddler who loved to yell and scream. Thank goodness we had an upper level room so as not to have a ceiling-neighbor, too. Parking also was a chore. Too tight parking spaces and too many cars allowed for the amount of rooms. We had to park in a handicapped spot on the recommendation of the desk clerk who said that luckily for us there were no handicapped guests that night.

  • Older travelers

Location was great, close to the wharf and shopping.

  • Couple

The plain exterior of the hotel belies the sizeable tasteful rooms. Breakfast was a simple, continental affair but sufficient for our needs and made a night's stay good value for money. The location is excellent being only 1 block's walk from Fisherman's Wharf and the public beach is a short stroll beyond that. We also had an excellent seafood dinner recommendation for the Sandbar grill; tasty and far cheaper than the touristy restaurants on the wharf.

  • Family with children

Our room was quiet and comfortable and a nice retreat from all the activity of the warf area. I would stay there again.

The only issue I had with the hotel is that I was unable to access the front desk by telephone.

  • Couple

The rooms were very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Service was good and the breakfast was satisfying. I loved that our room had a fireplace.

I was annoyed I had to pay for parking. I'm inclined to think the room was a bit overpriced, although I was satisfied with it.

  • Single

I had a quiet room upstairs in the back of the hotel, and the facilities were acceptable (not outstanding) for the high-season price. The location near downtown Monterey is very convenient.

Certain advertised features did not materialize---I was not provided with a firelog in the fireplace, although the weather was warm enough that I didn't feel the need for a fire. More difficult was the on-site parking, as it's hard to maneuver out of the lot when it's full.

  • Single

The room was charming and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel was walking distance to the warf so an excellent location. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to book the hotel again.

  • Older travelers

It is centrally located, you can walk to virtually all of the Monterey attractions, fisherman's wharf 1 and 2, downtown, Canary Row. Staff was nice, friendly. Parking was cramped but off the street and safe :) Small fireplace was a nice touch but I didn't know how to use it. Small balcony area was a nice touch.

It does not have internet access in the rooms. Bed was a bit lumpy and the sheets were rough. The television is outdated and small (a flat screen lcd is cheap now a days). The King Room is rather small too with no couch, very limited dresser space, no materials about sites or local dining in the rooms. The room is not really designed to hang out in or relax. No windows, just French Doors that opened to a common balcony...if you like to sleep with a window open this is not the place for you.

  • Couple

Family-run cute hotel, just a few minutes walk from Monterey's lively downtown and Fisherman's Wharf. Perfect location to enjoy Monterey's night life. Our room was immaculate, testfully decorated and spacious. The stuff was very welcoming and helpful in providing us with a general overview on what do to in town. Private parking free of charge.

A modest continental breakfast is served in a small room by the reception, which has seating for 14 people spread over 3 tables, so you may have to share your table and/or wait for some of the guests to finish before you are able to find a place.

  • Older travelers

Didn't really have a good idea of location of the hotel and facilities. I thought there was some kind of view and there was none. It was more a city/urban location and setting and had nothing to do with Monterey Bay.

  • Older travelers

    Location, nice staff.

Room had only light and air through the door. It smelled of strong cleaners, so we had to open the door to air it out. Aging facility.

  • Older travelers

The hotel is very conveniently located in downtown Monterey. No seaside view but direct access to the city free shuttle. There are rooms in the historic house (I imagine very nice) and also in a new part : these rooms are rather nice too. Good complementary breakfast.

  • Couple

Very comfortable, nice room, a cool fireplace

  • Group of friends

Good location. Nice room decor. Good value. Free wifi. Suites very comfortable.

Town location so no views and no additional facilities but was as expected.
